Our client, a behavioral health care clinic that has multiple specialty award-winning programs, and is committed to excellence and quality in patient care. Our client is seeking a Clinical Mental Health Counselor to become a part of their innovative team at an academically-based behavioral healthcare practice.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60k – $62k

Position Overview:

The Clinical Mental Health Counselor will provide comprehensive evaluation, assessment, and therapeutic intervention to address the psychological, emotional, and social needs of individuals served by the unit.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Mental Health Counselor:

  • Contributes to and supports an environment that enhances the positive self-image of individuals served and preserves their human dignity.
  • Actively participates in programs and department-wide meetings as assigned.
  • Maintains effective, open communication with members of the treatment team as evidenced by supervisory observation and team members’ feedback.
  • Under supervision, provides psychotherapeutic interventions/services.
  • Deals appropriately with issues of loss, separation, power, alliance, boundaries, authority, and identity with individuals.
  • Consistently identifies appropriate resources for individuals served and families based on assessed needs, performs case management functions and completes all forms.
  • Formulates clinically appropriate and timely discharge plans and documents in discharge instructions consistent with Clinical records standards following prescribed time frames as determined by supervisory observation and periodic review.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs.
  • Annually participates in relevant professional conferences and training.

Qualifications for the Clinical Mental Health Counselor:

  • (LSW or LAC or LPC or LCSW) Licensure to practice as required by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline.
  • Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Education Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a Mental Health discipline or a related field is required.
