Our client, a leading real estate investment and property management company is looking to add a Property Accountant to the team. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$80,000 – $85,000
Position Overview:
As a Property Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our multifamily properties. The Property Accountant will be working closely with the accounting team, property managers, and other stakeholders, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting decision-making processes to optimize property performance.
Responsibilities of the Property Accountant:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reconciliation. Monitor accounts receivable, track rent payments, and follow up on delinquent accounts as needed
- Assist in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts, analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and providing insights to support budgetary decisions and performance evaluations
- Maintain property-specific general ledger accounts, reconcile bank accounts, and review journal entries to ensure proper recording of transactions and adherence to accounting principles
- Conduct variance analysis, review property performance against budget and forecast, and provide explanations for significant deviations. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement
Qualifications for the Property Accountant:
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred
- 2+ years of experience as a Property Accountant or real estate finance
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
